Just picked this up from an 81 year old post war vet . He got to Germany in 1946. He said all he did was guard prisoners and hunt for souvenirs.

rzm and the ID number
I believe this rzm code is for KLAAS
How could I identify #161630?Last edited by vitts; 12-20-2010, 12:55 AM.

All look good to me, chunk of wood missing from SS dagger handle which hurts it a bit but still a nice original out of the woodwork example. Sadly, with so many of these vets being lost to age, a lot of this stuff will most likely get thrown out...a friend of mine admitted to throwing away a few ww2 german hats and helmets last year when his grandfather died....I still lose sleep over that.

This is the first serialized RZM marked SS dagger I have seen. Ross Kelbaugh is your man to locate the owner of this dagger. http://ss-numbers.com/
I thought that this practice only occured during the first few years and well before the RZM practice. Can other members please provide their knowledge on this.
