    Large german hunting dagger

    Id seen this hunting dagger for sale at a local flee market for some time and today with some haggeling and swaps i managed to get this for myself, i thought it was something thats not going to turn up every day here in south wales, its missing its skining dagger im afraid ut im still well chuffed. Regards Pete.

    p.s. could someone perhaps help with a value to this piece, im sure i did fine in the deal but would be interested in members opinions. pm would be fine.

              You have a very nice forestry hirschfänger made by the firm of Carl Kaiser and Co, the Otto Solveen is the Distributor from the town of Bückburg. Probably dates to around 1890-1910. Looks to be in decent condition, Carl Kaiser were not a prolific maker of hirschfängers,I've sen perhaps a couple dozen or so over the years. Shame about the missing skinning knife but most from this period have lost them. What is very rare is the hanger, these are near impossible to find.
