    Prinz Eugen Sword ???

I think this is a Prinz Eugen sword. It was purchased by my dad at an estate sale recently. Sorry, my photography is not better. Can anyone help me with an honest and fair value?

The blade is very nice, but the handle has lost some of the gilding.

I hope to list it on the E-Stand soon.

    Thanks

Great looking sword. Popular with collectors becouse of the two eagles!(one of the few WW2 era swords that had two) I would think depending on condition,$400 to $600. (there are others here that know better!) Good luck! Kevin.

These swords attract a premium due to the SS wearing them,
therefore i think $400 is a little low closer to the$600 i would think.
This is a beautiful design of sword congrats on getting one
          Regards

The SS connection is dubious at best. I believe someone dug up a photo of an SS officer wearin the saber, and that is the only period photo that exists of such wear. Also, I believe Angolia had one which he said came to him with the SS knot attached to the hilt..again, dubious at best.

It think kthe contemporay concensus is that the connection between the PE and the SS is overstated, and has been grossly exagerated to crank of the sales value. Also, people like the equate the Prinz Eugen SS division with the Prinz Eugen field marshall saber.

Anyway, if someone is interested in the particular pattern, and sees the seller state the piece was an SS item, that's an indicator to walk away. It indicates he's gonna' want $2200 or some insane amount like that. It's best to buy and own these patterns for what they are: a great looking Eickhorn Army officer saber. And great looking they are!!!!

Thanks for your help. I paid more than $600 for it. I'll see what happens.

I'm also the disbeliever, especially in 7th Waffen SS "Prinz Eugen" division conection theory.
In a time when that division was formed, wearing sabers wasn't "trendy" anymore. Looks more like a marketing trick to raise the value nowadays. To me it's just the nicest looking of all Eickhorn "Field Marshalls". I don't deny that some SS officers preferred this model - they just had a good taste
