Dress Bayonet help

Hi All
I picked up a Dress Bayonet From a friend today. I came back with his uncle at the end of WW2. It is marked Solingen on the blade. It has a greenish felt backed frog. I have several questions:
1) Can the maker be identified from the marking?
2) Is it Early or late war?
3) Does the backed Frog have any significance?

Oh, one other question. I have included a photo of the frog below. It is a shot through the hole showing the inside. I notice a pattern, I have never seen this on a leather frog before.. Is this a paper/cardboard frog. It was easy to remove from the scabbard.

I will try to answer all your questions:

1) Can the maker be identified from the marking?
Not really, unless one can tell from the configuration what maker it resembles.

2) Is it Early or late war?
This to me seems like a mid-period piece judging by the plating quality.

3) Does the backed Frog have any significance?
Not really, this is not uncommon.

Overall, it's a nice piece and I think you did well in getting it.

Thanks for all the information. Does the frog appear to be a paper or cardboard manuafacture. I posted a picture of the inside, because it appears different than most I have seen.

Hi,

I doubt it's paper to be honest. The outside looks normal and seems to be typical leather. On the inside, as you show on the photos, it's possible that there's a different material to keep that section stiff between the layers of leather. However, I would still be inclined to say it's machined leather, hence the marks which you see - which seem to make it look artificial.
