    Quick SS Dagger Question please!

Are letter or Gau type markings such as "I" or "Sa" correct on the crossguards? Also is it common for the wood grip to shrink and not be flush with the crossguard?
    Thank you !

Do you have a picture ?
they should be flush to Cr.

Some SS daggers as the M 36 chain daggers have Gau marks on Crossguard.
Why ? i really dont now for sure..

    I can show you later a picture on a M 36 Early
Its normal to some shrink into the wood grip. Spesialy the Ebony.

Codes ? roman letters are normal. On early dagger. Not the Rzm.

But Early Full nikkel Klitterman & Moog and Jacobs dont have roman letters. Some K&M daggers are seen with it, but very few with RL.

I have 2 SS M 33 Klitterman & Moog Rzm 7/29 ,and no one have Roman letters as i should be. That code Rzm 7/29 was made in early 36. Next code out was the Rzm 324/37.

I'm at an auction and have no photos. There is a Boker with an "I" on the crossguard. There is also 1mm gap betweenthe grip and crossguard and about a 2 mm gap on the other side. Grip appears to be ebony. Makers mark is the broad type not the little circle type. Fittings appear to be nickel. Thanks.

There was a lot of cosmoline on the blade, so I stopped bidding when it went over $2000. It ultimately went for about $2300 which would be about $2700 with the 15% buyers fees, sales taxes, etc.

There was another one there with an obviously bad blade. Motto was way off center and there were no maker or RZM markings. The crossguard had an "Sa" Gau marking on the crossguard (Sachsen?). That one went for $1200 to an online bidder. It always helps to have the opportunity to inspect!

I half-heartedly bid on an HJ leader dagger that went for $950! That was the steal of the day!

Although I went home empty handed, attending the auction at Rock Island Auction Co. was a great learning experience. Lots of rare WWII firearms there.
