What a beauty! But, I can't find this georgian legion nazi sword from any reference book so it is an unresearched piece! I grab it fast and trade it for SS dagger

It's another story of the decade to be told.
Just found in a, I'll use an old Roger Steele line, - old dune swept AK Tunisian wherehouse -

Who selling that one - Mr. Keys? But it's not damascus !

All I really want is to hear the Vet story on this one.

                  Fred- as do I

I couldn't resist sending a message to this guy asking the "history, detail, and provenance" on the piece. I couldn't just contact him and tell him his piece belongs in the rubbish pile.....that just wouldn't be any fun. It should be interesting to see what this chap has to say.

Oh- and by the way, should you have any extra $$ to toss out the window, he also has a "1916 Imperial Russian Soldiers Award Sword" for sale...again, for the ultra low price of $1295.00. Another rare inscription on the blade. Check out this beauty.

Is it me or does that eagle look like a chicken? (Rhode Island Red perhaps?)

                        Bob-
I was thinking more of an upland game bird...perhaps one in the pheasant family

**************** I forgot to mention, the seller states in an email that the piece came out of a French chateau at the end of the war, near "Paris in Leville-sur-Orge".

                        Gotta' love it!!!

                            Tom,

You’ve made my week. Just when I thought I had seen (almost) everything, something new pops up.

For the first sword, for the sellers story to hold up as being found after the war in a French chateau (and then somehow making its way back to Georgia). It would had to have been made in occupied France in 1943 - because there was no logistic “pipeline” between there and Soviet Georgia during the war. Does it look like it was made in France?? Hmmmm

As for the second sword. Instead of being the officer’s model, the Russian sword pictured is a government issue horse mounted enlisted artillery man’s saber. Which has been highly modified - supposedly while it still was government property. With the supposed recipient being a Colonel (ranking field grade officer) in the Russian Army?? Hmmmm

                            Regards, Fred

Heheee...I know Fred. It's absolute comedy gold! I would have given the guy $10 to hear the entire story, merely for comic relief.

I should also add that he elaborated in the email by saying the Georgian legionaires lived in the chateau during the German occupation of Northern France and fled at the end of the war, leaving behind thier prized sabers. Apparently the legionaires were not needed in Vichy France.

That's the story. I couldn't make this stuff up- it's just too creative for my left brain thinking...grids and numbers.
