      Hello

"J. Sch" is for the maker "Jeter & Scheer" in 1937.

      Best regards from Paris

One of the less common makers for bayonets, Jeeter & Scheerer also used the "S" code marking S/245 on earlier bayonets. But ceased making bayonets in 1941, never using the Fertigungskennzeichen (Manufacturer's identification marking) "dnw" that it used with the surgical instruments that it made for the Wehrmacht (which was the company's 'core' business). It also used the trade name "AESCULAP" for the daggers it made before dagger production was terminated. FP

PS: It was located in Tuttlingen (Württemburg).

Andy, My mistake, thanks for the correction. Interesting I think is that well after the war was over the company was renamed Aesculap - Werke AG, vormals (formerly) Jetter u. Scheerer dropping the Actiengesellschaft für Feinmechanik part. Still paying homage to the founder Gottfried Jetter, and his two later partners the Scheerer brothers. Best Regards, Fred

Thank you! A period letterhead is even better - corrections noted. FP

I don't have bayonet handy to take pictures but the serial number is in the 500 b range and it has a WaA 155 stamp with straight wings.

1937 bayonets by Jetter & Scheerer with the S/245 marking (instead of the J. Sch.) are seen in the 'no letter' block. With the large WaA 155 Waffenamts (like on the pommel) having a 'drop' wing, and the small ones (like on the scabbard ball) using a straight wing. FP
