unmarked Heer Dagger for your review

    Hello Experts,

I ran across this Dagger today and couldnt resist to buy it.

I know its pretty stupid to buy something where you have no clue about it..I just thought I have a 50/50 chance

Here is the short story about this Dagger...
It hung for about 35years in the living room from a older men. He had to denazify the Dagger 35years ago, because it comes from former east germany! To keep the Dagger as a private person, he had to remove the Swaz and showed it to the Police...those were the laws in east germany. He is moving in a nursing home now, so the Dagger came of his living room wall

It has some heavy patina and Im thinking to clean it..or should I leave it like this? Im sure it will look really pretty again when cleaned.
The Blade looks fine but is not marked

I do not collect WWII Daggers and want to resell it if it turns out to be okay...so I would appreciate any help regarding the value of such denazified Heer Dagger..

if additional photos are needed let me know

Looks ok unmarked heer dagger, I would not clean it too much but that's just me.

Denazified don't go for very much in this slow market, maybe around 200-250$.

            Best Regards,

            Adren

It is a good dagger, but I would say the value is higher then 200-250. Hangers are at least 125, knot 60-80, grip like that one up to 80 maybe more, scabbard 100-125, blade because it is not marked 50 to 70, and then the rest of parts. So if you do not want it for yourself and you want to sell it, you will make more money selling it as parts. Because crossguard is missing the most important piece it is not collectible piece anymore.

thanks you guys for the ..and the Info. much apreciated

what about replacing the crossguard? how much is a good crossguard these days and would it be worth it?

btw, I decided to leave it like it is..it looks great with the patina...the new owner can get the "never dull" out if he wants.

First you would have to get a proper crossguard. This one looks like a generic one, so more then one company used it. Another thing is that you will never get it to match the rest of the dagger because of the patina. But I think they run around 125 to 150 if you are lucky to find one.

Yes, the dagger would look pretty bad with replacement crossguard so if purely wanting to sell it for profit then parts would be probably best.
Then the patina would be lost anyway because parts buyer would certainly clean the parts because of the unique patina.
But there might be someone interested in buying the whole dagger so always better keep it intact if possible.

Unless the buyer just cleans and polishes it and replaces grossguard and fences it forward, then it would be lost cause.

                    Best Regards,

                    Adren

thanks for all the kind help and advice

I will put the whole Thing on the E-Stand for a while and if there is no potential buyer, I will sell the parts on the electronic-bay.

                      Thanks
