Can you tell me what I have?

    Hello Wehrmacht,

When I turned 18 my Grandfather from England gave me a Unslotted Bayonet from a officer that was from Germany,Take a look and hopefully someone who knows all kinds of German Bayo's, can help me find as much info as possible.

The Number on the Sword Sheath reads L.D 347.

The Number on the Sword handle reads 459.

The Name on the Blade Reads P.D Luneschloss Solingen.

The Blade alone is almost 13 Inch's in length.

What you have is a German police sidearm.

LD 347 is Landjagerei Dusseldorf Weapon number 347.

The Landejagerei was a rural police force.

The sheath having a brown leather body is correct for the rural police.

BTW - if you search on this Forum you will find other examples - just spotted a thread next to this one

A Police dress bayonet to be precise.
This was a private purchase hence the length of the blade, two rivets and without the sloth on the back.
The photos are a little blurry but this looks like a very nice example.

Wow,so its some what of a personal bayonet?

Is it rare to come across a country police sword like this?

Would be a way to find out what the area this officer was located?
