Is it acceptable to have such a poor blade to guard fit on these Himmlers ? I thought these were supposed to be hand fit to the highest standard.

The fit is fine. What you are seeing is a glare off the crossguards due to the bank's lighting. This is why many of the blades were so bright as to wash out the pictures. As I said in another thread, the photos were not printable book quality and I must apologize for that due to the time constraints with the Germans. Everything was a hurry up to get it all done in one day. And if I had not done a lot of combining the day before with my girl Friday, it wouldn't have been possible.
