Anyone have a clue what service this swords insignia might be for?

Your sword is an Eickhorn variation of the Army Officer sword. This is the Eickhorn Nr.1767 "Lützow" and could have been carried by any Heer Officer.

Yes, but very very few really carried it as it is the most sought after and highest priced model (=the most rarest) of the prominent EICKHORN field marshal´s series.
Very few collections do contain this sabre.

Any guess as to a value on one of these?

It's been offered to me along with another saber (usual closed wing eagle with swastika and a police bayonet) but I've not a clue what a fair value might be that I might offer the guy.
