Two Boot Knives!!! An Important Decision!

I just wanted to share these two boot knives that I just got. They are very nice but, I can only keep one. I am considering keeping the one with the bakelite handle. This type of knife is usually Luft., but there is no markings on this knife to suggest Luft? Your thoughts please. The reason I ask is that I want to put it on my mannequin, picture below, that is mid to late war heer.

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Eric

Agreed Eric, the first, I believe, is more desirable.
But IMHO, the second one would probably be more appropriate for your tunic.
          Both nice, BTW.

I agree Puma is more desirable, but the second would be more luft type of knife.

I would go for the puma knife. The second one is a infantery messer 42, and is far more common than the puma with bakelite handles.

              Best regards FJ

                FJ,

                Is the first knife Luft?

                Thanks,

                  I would keep the Puma.

None of them is LW. Second is more common, but will fit better to the tunic.

Totally agree with the responses, long term the puma will be more desirable for collectors. But if like me you want a realistic setup the latter would work best. Tough choice.

Thanks to all for your opinions. The infantry Messer 42 is the one that I am going to go with for my tunic. Yes, the Puma is a great boot knife, but I do not collect boot knives.

Thanks Again To Everyone for your opinions and Fanejunker for the ID (Infantry Messer 42). I had no idea that the Messer 42 had a name besides boot knife.

                          It's great to learn!
