I'd like you to tell me, if you would, which test you used to determine that the handle is "100%" ivory.....

I'm suspicious of anyone who would ask opinions in 99% of their posts, then delete the pics afterwards.

This thing has value, no question about it.
Its in the low $100's though, not the multi $1,000's people like him are trying to get.

And of course the blade is not even in the ballpark... Buy (Good) reference books... There is a old French reference book that had a few daggers of this shady quality in it .. Regards: James

First I thought it was April's Fool Day, but now I see it is a serious case. Let's make it clear: this dagger is a POST WAR FAKE. On this forum there is lot of advanced collectors who know their stuff, so if vast majority of guys here is sure that "honor dagger" is a fake, even make jokes about it, this means something. Fantasy pieces like this are good bait at militaria321 or such, but not at serious places like WAF or GDC. Just my 2 cents.

                    Jan,

What was the purpose of this thread? Was it to ask us if the dagger is original or to tell us? Initially it seemed the former but seems to have prgressed to the latter.

No disrespect intended but the dagger in question was not produced in the NS zeit & I doubt you'll be able to convince anyone here otherwise. With regard to the grip, I've never seen a true ivory grip that was 60+ years old that had absolutely no indication of age, whether it be stress cracks, chips or toning of the color. Despite the appearance of Schraeger lines, the grip looks to be modern imitation ivory made to mimic real ivory.

Not to mention the poor quality SS roundel copy and "fakers favourite" dedication lettering.
