    KURZES Sawback with Police Insignia.

Im always partial to the sawbacks. When I came across this baby I had to have it. Handles have 3 rivets like the early dress bayonets. On the handle German Nazi era Police Eagle. The only other nazi era sawbacks I have seen have been Firemens. Has anyone else seen these before. No maker marks, blade is very good, .
    cheers Robert

Hello Nice WWI bayonet with the police eagle added. I would guess it is glued on. See if it wiggles. I picked up a bayonet iwere someone messed up a grip by gluing on a RLB insignia. Kirby

I'd agree with Kirby, I don't believe the grip eagle is period. The bayonet is a 3 rivet pre WWII model, the grip eagle looks to be the type used in the late war period. There are tons of legit beyonets that find themselves humped up with postwar added grip emblems & other embellishments. Not something I'd want. On another note, the obverse rivets don't look kosher IMHO.

                    Sawback

possibly the insignia is postwar added even so its still a nice sawback. It came from a good source Ron Riede who knows his bayonets I dont think hed risk damaging it for a couple of hundred bucks. I just levered the eagle off and it had 2 pins so now I have a broken eagle and a handle with 2 holes maybe the grips were riveted when the eagle was put on.
                    cheers Robert

wHATJADOTHATFOR...??? You guys are the tearingest apart ive ever met....ALTHOUGH if you look at it closely there is glue at the top, and bottom of the grip, and the rivets appear replaced, as they should be the domed type rivets , wouldnt you think ? They sell kits for youth knives with replacement rivets. I think the only sanctioned police emblems for bayos are for the weimar dress police converted versions. Now since its messed up, youll have to get another grip, and re rivet them back again...

                        Sawback

yeah that will teach me, regardless any dress bayonet sawback is a good score, the photograph isnt the best but you can see the holes. The eagle had 2 prongs one broke and is in the hole as you can see from now on Im not playing with anything, I was trying to see if it wiggled.
