It would'nt bother me too much the whole bayo seems in nice shape, nice stetten zweibek markings , the bayo should be an eickhorn , Billy G is your man on these , i'm buying one exactly like yours without knot and frog and in similar condition maybe a bit worse, and the guy wants just under 100 uk pounds it's a little more than i'd want to pay for a fire bayo but i like the markings , and if i cant knock him down on the price i'd still be happy to pay it!

P.S. Once those wire threads start to break away it's a nightmare ! i restored one of mine , and it took FOREVER , well worth it though, have you bought his bayo? or are you enquiring about the price to sell?

            Hmmm

I don't think anyone did any intentional damage to the bayonet tip. It's common to see on bayonet tips and most likely caused by damage when the plating lifted as a result of pressure on the tip when inserting the bayonet into the scabbard. Two of my bayonets also exhibit this tiny plate loss.

Damage was due to a polish job as related to me by my late father who got the story from the guy who did the polish job and later sold it to my dad.

It might have been the case that what you cite caused the area to be weaker and not take to a polish job very well however.
