    Sending Luft swords by post?

I'm thinking of selling my Luft Swords etc and wonder if anyone knows where I can find boxes or tubes that are suitable for safe transporting.Bought a new carpet and asked if they had any spare tubes.ended up with 18ft of tube that was too narrow.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'd suggest going to your nearest B and Q store and asking if you can have a look at their boxes....they must get all sorts of stuff delivered in boxes suitable for a sword. Just don't take your sword with you

In the USA, the US Postal Service offers triangular, long boxes for priority shipping. Typically, this is what 99% of us use for shipping sabers. They work well for degens, schwerts, and sabers. There has to be something identical available in the UK. They work very well. I always use bubble wrap and padding.

Architect/map tubes generally are allways too narrow to accomodate a sabers hilt. When you find one that is large enough, it's usually prohibitively expensive to ship due to it's overly large size.

Smaller length triangular boxes. The triangular shape makes these boxes quite sturdy.

When I need an odd sized box, I dumpster dive.
If you're in or near an urban area, the back of the nearest strip mall or shopping center should have any box you need.

            Boxes

If you have a golfing store like Golfsmith in your area, they usually can help you out.
Or a good sporting goods store.

If i have to ship a LW Sword. i will ship inside a Pvc tube and put the tube inside a long triangular box. Some Postal service take extra charge for spesial shipments.

Thanks to all for suggestions, will work my way through them. Unfortunately the UK postal service only seem to sell envelopes as far as I can see.

I have shipped a few, and i have taken styrofoam discarded from other larger items others have purchased, and also found it in dumpsters thrown away. I make an outline of the sword with a pencil on the edge around its complete perimiter. then i use a heat gun, or a soldering iron to hold near it, and melt a depression thats half the depth, and then make another for the other side, the same, and then try the sword to fit, and shimm it if necessary with clean but discarded t shirts or cotton material. Then i build a box from another box big enough with clean cardboard to fold it around the styrofoam (two halves)(sword fits 1/2 way deep to both sides of foam encasing it )and create my own box. Tape it good after enclosing the sword in between the two pieces of foam. (do not use spongy rubber , use only styrofoam) and then write : handle with care : fragile do not throw or bend...on it (wich it wont anyway. ) then send it priority w/ delivery confirmation...address the outside, and add the DC sticker......And you should be good to go. I always save old styrofoam when i find it thru the year, in case i need to send something like that. With anything thats hot, you can learn how long to leave it near the foam to get the depth you need, and if you make it a little too deep, you just shim it with material . If you are not handy, cant find free styrofoam , or have something to melt the foam with, home improvement stores carry everything to make your own ....just use the foam thats only a couple inches wider than the half depth of the sword is on each side. You have to have common sense to not make it too thin on the foam, or two thick to be under or overkill. then box it using a clean left over cardboad box, as i said, and try and fold it around the foam as one piece if possible. Its really not that difficult if you like making stuff, and even havent made one ever before. But again as stated above if you want to go the fast track...the priority mail usps medium mailing tube would be the right size,(they are free at the usps near you) wrap it in the foam sheets, and bubble wrap available at packing stores near you (maybe even the post office may have stuff to wrap around it , and keep in mind additional country -specific prohibitions may apply. Make sure you tape those ends up on all 3 facets of the usps triangular boxes, even though they fit together, they will come apart (open)if you do NOT tape them on all 3 sides....See international mail manual (IMMA) country pages for details.(thru the US post office) Also: for customs ....for international use, affix customs declaration P3 form 2976-A using PS form 2976-E customs form pouch. TAPE IT UP AROUND IT ALSO GOOD! (after taping the 3 facets of the ends first, overlapping the end facet tape.

Go to a UPS store and pay to box it, I wouldn't trust one of the free triangular junk boxes the post office gives away free. If they were worth anything, wouldn't be free
