    Branch color NCO bayonet?

    Gentlemen,

I own this nice bayonet with Portepee for a couple of years now, but I'm wondering to which branch it belongs...

It's a NCO bayonet if I'm right, but what do the green/silvery colours mean?
Is it Polizei, or just Heer Infanterie, or what?

    Thanks in advance, Flecktarn!

    Hi,

The Portepee is for a Heer NCO. They were normally worn on the short dress bayonet, not combat bayonets.

The green in the Troddel indicates that a Sergeant is a staff position while the aluminum indicates his elevated rank above other enlisted men. The NCO Troddel could be worn on the S84/98 as well as the KS98. If worn on the KS98 it would normally be the short bladed bayonet as Tim indicates.

The bayonet is marked with 'F. Herdera.Sn' and '4166e'... The bayonet and scabbard are not matching, but the knive is totally mint.

So, this is a Heer NCO bayonet, suitable for any Heer NCO display?
I would like to use it for a Heer Infanterie NCO display...

          Thanks in advance, Flecktarn!

Thanks for details, i assume its 39 stamped on spine of blade, normally the piece should be matched, the piece is normal for all soldier, only the trodel denote a NCO using. best regards,Andy
PS what for markings is on the scabbard
