    The Oakleaf Trifecta

My friends who also play at GD and WWM have seen this. For those of you who don't, I thought i'd share this here.

Below are 3 of 8 (or 9 oak leaf patterns I have) of different pattern of langet "oak leafs" embellished sabers patterns. It's a sub-genre inside saber collecting...it keeps it interesting. 1 came from a peer here on WAF.

    As follows:

    1- Eickkhorn
    2- Eickhorn
    3- Alcoso

    I love these!!!

Very nice, Tom. One area of TR edged weapons that I hope I never get involved in, I would want too many!

Thanks for the nice words guys. All 3 of these examples have screamin' gilting still intact. One had a fair amount of dirt on her hilt, and a simple, homemade non-invasive ultra-weak strength'd sudsy amonia did the job of removing the dirt prefectly to reveal wonderfully intact original gilting. Really, the Germans nailed it when it comes to the aesthetic attractiveness of thier swords. My American sabers don't even hold a candle as far as "looks" go.

Here's another angle, and I put the knot back on one of the Eickhorns.

            Thanks Jay.

Here's another look at the Eickhorn 1716 with the crossed oak sprigs. I should also add that this example has both langets identically chisled..both obverse and reverse. A nice little edition to a good looking saber.

Here's a photo of her by herself.

Image of the reverse, back side langet. Note the nice Eickhorn TM on the blade.

Very nice! Doesn't look like you'll be worried about upgrading anytime soon.
