It's easy to take them apart, but it's not reccommended. The pommel threads are quite delicate on 2nd Lufts, and i've seen alot of stripped pommels in my life. The tendency is for folks to over tighten them....and I should also add that with overtightening, the owner risks damaging the plaster fill/wood and pressure cracking the galalith grip. It's risky, and generally I wouldn't reccommend disassembly unless it's for emergency maint. intervention or for a questionable dagger blade which needs identification.

Depends what type handle it has , some are cellulose, some filled...But i cant judge until i see the tang. Just because it has the mark... doesn't mean it isn't a parts dagger.Tang is the only thing that can determine that. Give us a clear shot of both sides(edges ) of the tang and lets see.
Parts dagger are usually the ones that strip....i have never had any trouble with a mated original...one thing to keep in mind is if you try and remove the pommel if it is tight, it may have either been glued , or jb welded cause the nimrod got his hands on it..or just corroded(rarely corroded).
In cases like that i dont force anything...like putting a browning over and under back together after cleaning...it should never be forced in any way....so thats my 3 cents worth on the subject.
I always count the turns out to be sure i know what is the correct number when reassembling. And like binocular threads you have to start it right to have it not strip. If you are a klutz, id say dont take it apart.
If you are very careful, and know how to turn it backwards till you feel the clic of the threads first before turning it to the right to start it ...so it starts right ...id say why not.
Isn't like a diplomatic or an sa wich requires special tools and finesse. Not like taking an emblem with prongs off that may break after being bent either...Its up to the mature collector that is fearless and confident to decide for himself or herself (had to include the ladys, as there are several women nazi collectors here also). This is no longer just a mans hobby fellas. (yep there are nazi girls....who will try and jump yer bones just to get to play with yer stuff ...so beware more of that than being afraid to take one o these apart.
In fact i wont buy a luft that i cant disassemble to check the tang....prior to purchase)
