    Hi Vald,

Nice maker mark on the blade I don't know how rare that maker would be on the McSarr list, but that seems to be a correct mark. I can't realy see how the blade touches the crossguard, unfortunately. The scabbard fittings could be correct. Maybe the metal underneath the leather is correct as well, the leather appears to be covering it, stopping as it reaches the fittings. That leather does look kinda new though. Still, it has a cool look about it Maybe an SA person that wanted to protect the scabbard from getting dented/scratched?

As far as I know, only honor daggers sport leather scabbards, but I've seen images of these scabbards having leather that 'runs' underneath the fittings, just like the anodized and/or painted metal on a regular scabbard.

The grip looks off. It might have been decorated with original insignia, but these should be smoothly inserted/lowered into the wood, never on top of the surface. I don't believe even the earliest (christmas) daggers have insignia on top of the wood surface instead of worked into the wood surface.

That being said, the hilt does have a very nice crossguard to grip fit. So it could be a NPEA grip that was drilled into at some point in time. Or maybe an original period replacement grip without insignia. Or maybe just a reproduction to fill the void. I think the crossguards are real. They also seem to have a nice fit towards the upper scabbard fitting.

Photographs are always difficult to interpret while not having much of hands-on experience. Still, going on literature, I came up with the above. Someone more experienced might be better at stating a price. Be cautious when in doubt, always.

    Best regards,
    Karin-Renate
