            This isn't for artillery because it's red, they don't work like that. Artillery and infantry soldiers wore many different color combinations. The color combinations represent different companies. This combination is for the second company or battery (infantry or artillery). The grey strap is the "wartime color", they were white during peace time. This is an enlisted man's and was worn on a dress bayonet.

                Along with that I think it can also be used with rifle regiments, horse artillery, and art. instruction units.
