    WWI Austrian fighting knife with shortened bayonet scabbard

    Hi Guys,i found this WWI Austrian fighting knife and it came with a modified bayonet scabbard and it seems to be period made.
    Can you tell me more about this configuration .

            You are right, it is a 1917 AustroHungarian fighting knife. I think somebody wanted to make his fighting knife look better, so he modified the leather bayonet scabbard. Normally they come in metal scabbards. I think it is a period, and it does look good.
            Nice find.

              Hello the scabbards looks like a nice SG1871 german piece shortened, on frog stud is a 115 Landwehr Regiment stamped, the M17 Sturmmesser was made by Winternitz in Steyr. best regards,Andy
