Were all ss-dagger scabbard anodised?

Hey guys,

simpel question, Were all ss-dagger scabbard anodised black or were any of them made of any other materiel??

It's just because today i was offered a ss-dagger... m7/36. I know that it is fake, but wonder why they made the scabbard in "leather look" and not in the normal "black paint look"

I think why you have not had any replys is your question
is a bit confusing. Early daggers were anodised, later ones
were painted what do you mean by leather look.

Like alreday mentioned: Early scabbards were "anodized" which was in fact some kind of blueing process. Later made daggers received black painted scabbards and some very rare honour pieces were fitted out with black colored leather. I woudn't been suprised if there exist poor fakes with a cheap imitation leather scabbard. I'm also pretty sure very good fakes of honour daggers with genuine leather scabbards also exist.

Anodized is a term used for Aluminum,,,since these scabbards
were not aluminum,,,Anodized is the wrong word,,

I believe Oxide is the correct term

Early SA and SS dagger scabbards were fiished brown and black, respectively, via a process similar to the bluing used on firearms.

Later daggers had painted scabbards.

The leather scabbards were used on both the SA and SS honor daggers. The one pictured appears to be a reproduction SS honor dagger, so - while not original - that is the corrtect scabbard for the model in question.
