    Hi All
I am not versed in these and have never owned one. This has been offered to me and i would value opinions on it.
    Thank you

I figure by condition somewhere around 400. Becareful to not put it back in the scabbard if you get it as many times the eagles get broken off the crossguard. This is in fairly decent shape. I never thought this knife was considered a a hewer , but I call it an em medics knife . The sawback is for cutting splints.

It's original but, given the condition of the blade, I would pass. These are among the least desirable of all the TR edged weapons. If you're going to buy one, buy one that is in better - much better - condition

                        My two cents'

Thank you for your opinions Guys
Skipper, do you think the blade can be cleaned up using renwax a little bit?

                            I actually like these.

The blade could be improved a bit with some semi chrome polish if you so desired.

Pity that the blade is so poor.

                            Cheers, Ade.

                              Steve,

It depends on whether the darkening is staining or something deeper into the blade steel. I bought one of these that had a little staining but was able to clean it off very gingerly without removing the crossgrain. Try to examine the blade in hand, if possible, to see what the extent of the darkening is. If the price is low it might still be worth it.

While I agree with Skip that DRK hewers are some of the least desirable of the 3R edged weapons, there is still a brisk market for them. Russian collectors are particularly interested in these pieces & dealers' prices have gone way up in the last 4 to 5 years.
