RARE and MINTY daggers/bayo for discussion...

I am being offered these daggers/bayos

They are not cheap by any means but curious what the current market is on these since I know Imperial items are even softer than TR items.

-1870 Walking out Bayonet Maker marked and engraved... MINTY

    - Imperial Fire Officials.. Also MINTY..

Thanks for any and all INFO..

Just curious, are the scabbard fittings silver or gold? They look to have much less color than the dagger which might mean it's a mismatch or that the scabbard fittings have been heavily cleaned. Not much of a market for the Imperial fire pieces, I have a bunch of variations of these as they really are impressive in person & in most cases very well made.

One caveat on Eickhorn fire official's daggers, they were made by Eickhorn up until the 1970s & postwar examples when aged can sometimes be tough to vet. Yours has the single oval squirrel which I believe is fine. Most if not all of the postwar ones I've seen had the '35-'41 mark that was etched & facing in the wrong direction.

I'd say a decent price for the fire dagger would be $750-$850. The loss of the gilt finish is a shame but on the good side, the blade etch looks pretty nice. No idea on the bayonet, sorry.
