    Heer Dagger for information--Unmarked

    Guy's:

I just received this Heer Dagger which is unmarked. Normally I would prefer a mark but this piece is so minty I took it.

Those of you who are more knowledgeable would be able to tell the maker of the cross guard, and any other information would be appreciated. A lot of cross grain is present. Scabbard is excellent and blade is mint.

Only one little thing bothers me and that is the buffer pad inside the hilt, although compared to the rest of the dagger it fits as well.

    Please give me your input

                    Rich,
I'm sure you are right it's a Wigen product. Here is a late war one that I owns. Same crossguard only mine is in aluminum. The pommel looks similar. The scabbard is the same as yours.

Here's an image of a Wingen, 2nd type crossguard for reference.

The buffer pad is fine,it's a slightly larger style that was used on many army daggers. Nothing to be dissappointed about. That's a good looking dagger.

I don't own a single unmarked dagger (yet) but I would have a hard time leaving that one behind. It is a beautiful example worthy of any collection.
                            Best regards,
                            Frank
