K98 with matching numbers

Hi, I have this bayonet, a pick from when I was in Bosnia, nice dated frog and matching numbers. Any comments about the maker etc would be appreicated, Rick

E&F Horster,Solingen.The firm was founded in 1850 and made swords,daggers ,bayonets etc;I think your bayonet was made pre-war,as from about 1941 they used three letter codes asw and later sgx.They were still in bussiness in 1972,I don't know if they are still going as my ref; book was published in 1973.

Hello, on spine there should be dating near crossguard, the frog is from 1943, marked with RB Number.

Hi, thanks for the comments, I can't get to the bayonet to check as it is locked up in England and I am in qatar! Next time I visit I will check and photograph the spine, Cheers, Rick
