An odd & unusual piece, certainly something to pop out in one's collection. Very nice looking dagger.

                            Hello Hakan,

A fine piece indeed. I've been waiting for you to post it as I wanted to ask about the grip. I've read that it was specifically made for use in funeral processions. Also that it has simply turned colour due to the chemical composition of that maker's grip reacting to light over a long period of time.

Can you or anyone else enlighten me on this? What is the current thinking?

                            Regards to all,
                            Stu

                              Hi Stu !
IMO this handle has been white from the beggining and turned into
this colour over the years. I also have a nice Heer dagger in my collection
that has turned dark chocloate brown during the years.
Then we have the Klaas made so called funeral daggers
but they are nothing like this one !
This has just turned this way trough the years and for that I
                              am real happy
                              HÃ¥kan
