    Double etched bayonet

I have this bayonet which I thought I would post.
It is marked, heerespringerschule hildesheim 1938 with army eagle and army paraschute badge, on one side and on the reverse side is two me110 and the same insignia.
The blade is proofmarked by the firm Max weyersberg Solingen.
The grip plates are the wooden type to look like staghorn.
I got it with an LBA marked frog dated 1939, and I added the portepee.
After buying this I found one in Detlev Neimann and Klaus Lubbe book on page 335 with the same details.

    regards John

    Blade inscription

Heres the obverse of the blade.
The lack of detail on the eagle, is reflected in the book I mentioned.

          Hi John,

Sorry, despite this etch being in the Nieman/Lubbe book, I believe it to be a well known fake. There is a decent breakdown of why this piece is bad in Waynet Techet's book "German Etched Dress Bayonets (Extra-Seitengewehre 1933-1945)", pages 39, 40 & 41. While Max Weyersberg did not have a line of military etches for bayonets, the proof is in the details of the etch. Unfinished & uneven borders, poor detail to the bookend borders & details of items bleeding into the borders, all things that would be problematic on extra cost items of the period IMO. The frog & knot look to be period though.

Denny Gaither also has one & it's posted here:
