    SS no mm

Hello, I was looking at an SS dagger today. It is in poor to fair condition due to broken up wood and missing the runes/circle. It had the motto but no manufacturer's logo or any other markings. Should there be any markings on the tang or elsewhere if the exterior is unmarked? The eagle appeared to be worn cupal and loose. He wanted $400. for it and it came with the SA dagger I posted.. Thanks, Tony

Could really use some help as I am going back tomorrow. I am surfing the threads but have no knowledge on daggers. From what I have seen if it has no markings other than the motto, it is an early ground Rohm? and was originally a chained dagger?

Save your money. Sounds like it's pretty well beat condition-wise. You didn't mention a scabbard...if there's no maker mark, it should have the '36/chained pattern scabbard.

      I would pass on it,

It's probably more of a project than it's worth. The grip may be bad, but if the blade and crossguards are in good condition, and it has billet marks on the tang, I'd think that around $300 would be okay to sell it for parts.

          Tony,

I know someone who needs such a blade if the blade is in decent condition. Do you have pics? If so, feel free to PM or email me, thanks.
