    Could someone please enlighten me here as to where to buy one of these so called NS knifes? i have never seen one for sale but i see a lot of hj knifes out there anybody any proof these are a period peice?

        I've seen them on fairs and in the Johnson books. But that's all. Never paid much attention on them. I don't know how many are directly from veterans sources nor that there exist period pictures. It only seems that this emblem is placed very nice. Not the most solid provenance but still something to think about. Or let me say it this way: If I would life in america and I was able to buy it from a veteran I would take the risk and do that. But I would never selling these elsewhere with so little proof. And if they are real then they would have no official status back then I guess. As far as I know there are no regulations found of this knife.

          While anything is possible????....isn't it alittle strange that it's a late "wartime" painted NSB insignia (not enamel).....I'd expect originals to have enamel (never seen a HJ with a painted grip insignia) .....especially since the blade appears to be dated 1936 (too early for an RZM blade isn't it?)

          I know guys who can remove and replace grips & revits so you'd never know...
          so the fact it wiggles means little.....

          I'd have to see one directly from a vet before I'd "buy" the story, myself.
          Just my ten cents worth....

            John i agree 100% with you on the points you,ve mentioned. What we need guys is some hard evidence that these NS knifes ever existed!!!!, i believe the one posted here is just a normal hj knife with a later painted NS insignia fitted at some point maybe last week??

              there is no proof that these daggers ever existed, unless somone out there has any they want to share, vet buy means nothing, one of the best bits of advice i ever had from this forum:

              buy the item not the story

                  Mainemilitaria, the HJ knife came under control of the RZM in late 1934.

                    I realize that HJ knifes came under the RZM in 1934.....but normally pre-1938 HJ knifes would have a motto etched on the blade as well as a makers trademark.....This one appears dated 1936, and is without motto or a makers trademark...just the RZM code.....
                    That's what I was pointing out about the knife itself. The painted NSB emblem speaks for itself....

                          as its an rzm piece should it not be listed in the regulations like other TR daggers & knives? the same notes that list all but BDM knives??

                            Scott, I do not have permission to copy the pictures. Here is where they are pictured:
                            Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich Volume III by LTC. Thomas M. Johnson page 133 credited to Dr. Julian Milestone collection

                            also Volume VII page 142 manufactured by Puma ...of interest the back of the blade is stamped under the trademark "Ges. Geschutzt" meaning that a patent had been applied for on this model from the David Stroud collection.

                            Collectors' Handbook of WWII German Daggers by LTC. (Ret.) Thomas M. Johnson page 90 of both the first and second editiions ...maker is M7/31 (August Mertin MW)
