But, I am sure that the quality of the forging on yours is much higher, I would like to see photos of it.

          Thanks Ron,
could you please post some closer, straight on photos to show the pattern?
Apologies to patriote 3945, not trying to highjack his thread.

                Patriote,

The blade on the dagger you posted looks to be real damascus.

Unfortunately it is not of TR era manufacture. It is of a currently available style. This style of damascus was definately not used during the TR era.

As others have mentioned the top and bottom hilt fittings look to be mismatched. The top looks to be and early nickle silver one while the cross guard looks to be the later plated variety.

If you can buy it extremely cheap (less than $50) it would make an interesting letter openner, otherwise save your money.

                Tony

                  re blade

Yes, the above damascus blade was not a pattern used during Third Reich times as already stated above.

Ron, is it possible to see better photos of the blade on your A+M tang marked dagger? This tang mark of course although owned by Alexander Mueller was used by Paul Mueller on some of his earliest blades in the Third Reich period. My guess is your blade was made by Paul Mueller. I too have a dagger with this tang marking.

Here are 2 photos of my "A+M" in an oval tang marked Mueller SA. This dagger came directly from Paul Dinger's Estate.

Wow! A beauty, Ron! What a huge difference in the quality of this period Damascus work and the first example posted by Patriote.
