Looks like a period produced KS98 dress bayonet with a postwar etch added to it. Just my opinion based on the style of etch which resembles a Holler pattern but with a completely different font on the letters. The fact it's attributed to the SS only heightens my skepticism.

        Fake etch

I would second that as well. The etch is bogus but the bayonet is period. Simply said, the etch is post-war applied (fake) and the bayonet is real, just destroyed by the fake etch.

Good bayonet and added fake inscription. Notice how thick the borders are and how uneven the etch is along the sides. Also, the etch is too new looking compared to the age of the bayonet. Frog is also for a field bayonet and not a dress piece.

Even as fakes they have some collector value. Collectors love lots of swastics, runes, etc. on their stuff. Charlie
