Very nice dagger of a very rarely seen maker! Congrats!
BTW ... the stamp on the crossguard shows the Group, neither Gau nor District.
Germany was subdivided into multiple SA groups and each group had its own abbreviation (e.g. "Sa" for "Sachsen" = Saxony or "Sw" for "SĂ¼dwest" = South West, etc.).
Here´s a nice website illustrating the various groups (sorry, guys, but it´s in German): http://www.dienstdolch.de/die-gruppe...html?Itemid=35
Most likely the SA daggers have been ordered by the headquarters of the SA groups at the manufacturers. The manufacturers then shipped the daggers to the headquarter of the SA group. I think it´s still speculated, but it is assumed that the SA groups then stamped the daggers with the specific abbreviation for the SA group and then released the daggers to the following units (Brigade, Standarte, Sturm, Trupp, Schar, Rotte ... who knows for sure). Finally the SA daggers have been handed over to the single Stormtrooper.
