    Opnions on Alcoso Dagger

I have had over 15 army dagger by different makers but never Alcoso and just got this Army dagger in today My first Alcoso so what to share it and get some opnions. The only thing that i'm buzzing about is the grip to pommel fit, I know the grip collar can only fit Alcoso pommels but not sure about the the outer edge of the grip top. All the ones i have seen at shows had a tapered top, anyone seen this on Alcoso Daggers.

If the pommel freely unscrews the chances are the grip has been replaced in my opinion. Many un-messed with army daggers by Alcoso will have a factory fixed pommel which guarantees the grip, and although it is possible for your dagger to be one with an un-fixed pommel, that coupled with the grip collar would be a " no no " for me.

P.S The grip is a stunner and a nice looking dagger to boot!

EDIT: The purist got the better of me as usual, somebody just sent me a picture of another Alcoso with the same grip to pommel fit and with a fixed pommel so although I would PREFER to see the typical ACS slim profile grip it would appear the company may have dabbled!.

I've seen a number of ACS Heers with this odd grip to pommel fit. Not my favorite look, but seemingly genuine (that's not to say that parts pieces in this configuration don't exsit).

Whatever the circumstances, it's got some really fine patina.

                Hi Guy's,
The fit of the ferrule ring is exact to the grip and crossguard, just i was not sure about the pommel fit. The grip collar looks unmessed with and the pommel was stuck so to speak but came loose with no ill affects.

Larry, the patina is sweet and the blade is mint with all the crossgrain, scabbard has no issues and plating is 100% throughout, it's a very nice dagger indeed again just needed some input on the grip.

I've added a picture of the top of the crossguard, ther pommel top matches this nice even patina, it's what one would expect to find on a uncleaned piece.

                  Alcoso dagger

Now you need a "textbook" Alcoso.

IMO the grip has been replaced I find it hard to believe that this left the factory this way. We all know Alcoso had the smaller based pommels with the grip to match. Degens is correct many of the Alcoso army’s the pommels are fixed or frozen I have an initial production slant grip with a fixed pommel.

Usually see this unequal fit with the early "Eisenkopf" fittings with the early hand enhanced magnetic pommel. JMO Kevin.

I have an early Army (Heer) Dagger by Alcoso on my website at the moment.
I have posted these pictures to compare. Hope it helps.
                          Best wishes,

The handle is original to the dagger. I have an identical Alcoso heer with iron/steel fittings that I pulled out of the woodwork last year that has exactly the same pommel/grip fit.
