Yep, I agree with Wags, the dagger looks OK, the scabbard bands are strange though. Usually Eickhorns will have flat sides to the scabbard rings with 3 sections, Alcosos are fluted where the ring passes through. The one you show is neither... This style is similar to post-war bands seen on Naval daggers. Do you have a detail shot of the crossguard?

Anyone else see this style of scabbard rings on an Eickhorn? It may not be a problem, just that I haven't seen this before...

Good Eye as usual Red!

No I haven't seen that type of scabbard band on an Eickhorn G.O.
It's not a good sign but doesn't mean that it's a 100% bad scabbard but just doesn't look "correct" for a textbook G.O. by Eickhorn.

Here is what Red is talking about from my Eickhorn G.O.
Note the knurled 3 section ring eye.

Anyone else see this type of scabbard rings as above ? Excellent point Red.

The scabbards on both of these daggers shown are not correct for a period Eickhorn G.O. dagger IMO. And the dagger that started this thread looks like it has fake patina applied to it, would need much better pictures to be sure, and the hilt would need to be stripped to check for matching numbers on all the correct parts. As when one of these daggers appears that has any type of red flag associated with it you must check everything on the piece as there is some amazing fakes out there that originated from Germany.

Here is what an authentic Eickhorn G.O. Scabbard should looks like. Look at the oak leaf design and the way the leaves are running and the overall detail of everything to enclude the stippling on the scabbard itself. These daggers were produced by true artisans of the period and were all hand finished with total care and dedication put into them by the man making them. They are one of the best produced and designed daggers from the TR period and no corner was cut in producing them.

I see no red flags on the scabbard posted by Wagner, looks correct to me. What do you believe to be wrong on his example?

I explained what to look for on an original with the picture I posted up of a 100% original Eickhorn G.O. scabbard. Look at wags one and the other one and you will see what I am talking about straight away, as they both have many red flags and IMO they are not original Eickhorn G.O. scabbards. Eickhorn also did not change its design for its G.O. dagger throughout the TR period, so if you see any that don't look like the one that I have shown then they are not correct. I would like to add, that all the scabbard rings were made from brass and the hanging rings were made from magnetic steel on all original Eickhorn G.O.'s and were silver plated.
