    SS dagger scabbard

Greetings: I've run into a collection of daggers which is not my specialty. I know enough to recognize a bad fake, but nowadays you never know and it's always better to discuss, especially the high end ones. Along with other daggers, this scabbard is offered . I would appreciate opinions and comments from collectors whose field of expertise this is. So far all that has been found is the scabbard ,but the dagger is believed to be there also. I think this looks good, but the chain has been repaired in a few places. I look forward to all replies and comments.
    Best Regards
    Zeke

Close up of bottom attachment. Thank you for all replies and comments. Daggers is a learning process for me( a field I'm not sure I should get involved with) and I appreciate all knowledge that is shared. I will also be posting a navy dagger in the future

Looks fine to me, no red flags that I can see. These would "usually" have an anodised/black oxidised scabbard, but the fact that your's is painted doesn't really present a problem. It appears to be a nice late type 2...

I concur with Red. Original late plated scabbard, maybe a repaint.

I agree...since there are two screws in the center scabbard fitting, one would expect to see an anodized scabbard, but the paint job looks good - possibly even a period-done job. The chain looks fine.

Hope you can find the dagger and pick the rig up for a decent price - that would be a great start to your budding dagger collection!

                    Best,

Very fine photograph work of a very fine original chain. Always a pleasure to see how detailed the real stuff is made.

                      Regards, Theo

Greetings: Thank you Theo on your compliment of my photograpy. I stongly believe that if you expect an evaluation on an item you must give an accurate picture. If knowledgeable people like yourself, Red,Wagner, and Skip are willing to take the time to share their knowlegge and expertise the least I can do is take the time to supply accurate pictures to study. Thank you all for your replies, it is greatly appreciated and I will keep you posted on the dagger. Thank you also to Stu W for your reply.
