    SA/SS Dagger Question

    Greetings,

Can someone tell me the best tool and method to remove/ unscrew the bolt that holds the blade and handle assembly together on the SA/SS daggers?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I think you can order a copy of this tool from www.lakesidetrader.com

Then you dont have to make scratches on your SA .

Why do you have to take apart the dagger?

I have an original Eickhorn tool, but with a little flat bar and some files and sandpaper, you can easily make your own.

Tom Wittmann sells a combination tool that has correct size wrenches, screw driver tips (etc.): to open all types of German daggers,l& parts > price around $30.00 .

Always be carefull when you do this and use the proper tools like mentioned by the others. Every scratch can have influence on the quality of your dagger.

Please note that there are number of different small wrenches that will remove the top pommel nut on SA and SS daggers. The space between this nut and the top crossguard varies a lot between various makers daggers. Make sure you get one that fits properly. I have several slightly different wrenches and they are all needed to fit exactly. Otherwise you run the risk of an improper fit and damaging the nut or top crossguard.

Try using a Penn Reel wrench. Works perfectly.

A dremel or similar tool wrench works for me.

A Pen reel, or Dremel wench will leave Marks on nut; because they are Not Metric, & slightly bigger than original. The metric size tools, made for the job, are best.
