If anyone ever finds a SMF Gravity knife with the name CROBAK scratched into the handle and with a re-tipped blade, let me know. It was my dad's. He brought it back from WW2. My brother broke the tip. I retipped it. Dad sold it in the 1970's in Pittsburgh.

Type II´s are tricky - lots of fakes around incl. fake blades in an original handle. There are also war and post war knifes around - here are some rare type II´s:

                  1943-1945:
                  - Type II with weyersberg logo on carbon blade (devoid of "Rostfrei")
                  - Weyersberg type II with stainless steel bolster and stainless steel blade
                  - WEyerberg made of type I parts (e.g. metal case)
                  - In general Weyersberg (RBNr .....0020) is rarer than SMF
                  - (Emil Voos and Gaefler are a fake blades)

                  post war:
                  - Carl Eickhorn
                  - Gebrüder Weyersberg
                  - SMF with dagger blade (definitely post war - even if others say different)
                  - SMF with "Bundeswehr (type IV)" shaped bolster

                      Hi Peter

Missing a statement from you with info and true sources where you have information that a Gebryder Weyersberg Gravity is after-war produced in the 1950s.?

There are few knives in circulation on these and why make a few,? When it's easier to produce 5000 pcs or any other?

As I interpret the matter, Gebryder Weyersberg is 100% Original Knife WW2, until the contrary is proven without anyone having to buy a book from you.

When such rumors come out and make problems, it's actually Peter who starts a discussion among collectors who have these Gebr Weyersberg in assembly.

Therefore, we ask for a specific source where you have found that these are copies?

The views and opinions of a man are unfortunately not in this case, even if you are the author of the book

Hope you answer and put out the source you have?

                      LH

                            Hi LH600,
Good to see you post again.

Yes, I would like to see where all these scarce marker and rare variant Gravity Knives come from. I guess all the fine workers of these were just sitting around and waiting for the war to end and then were called back to produce a handful postwar knives, and somehow avoided getting sent to the Oder Front.
