According to Tom Johnson's reference books, the maker's logo on your dagger was introduced in 1941 and has been used on various knives until 1976. I would have expected a later style scabbard, but everything seems to match to the point that I think it's okay. Anxious to hear what others say.

I dont have any problems with this one. It is interesting to see people's reactions to "transitional" type pieces. It is an old concern for collectors- is mine a mismatch from some collector putting parts together, or was mine made during a transition. The nickel-silver 1st Lufts with aluminum chains always bother me, but there are plenty that were probably made that way during the period. Everyone loves patina but if those fittings were bright and new, the metal tone mis-match wouldn't be so noticeable. My first navy was an eickhorn rig exactly as pictured here, which was acquired by an antique dealer after clearing an estate. It has a plated brass scabbard and sightly brighter metal mid-war fittings on the dagger. Probably the case of the company using up a surplus of scabbards while starting to use the new wartime fittings on the daggers. Bill Shea had looked at mine years ago and this was his explanation as well.
