    Long Double Etched Bayonet

Hi, I have this long double etched bayonet in my collection with Jager Regiment 99 on one side of the blade and the usual memory of my military service on the other side. The etched panels are nicely etched and are deep in the blade. I am really sorry for the poor picture quality of some of the pictures as im terrible at taking pictures of edged weapons! There is no makers mark on this piece. It would be great to hear what you guys think about this one? Im hopeful that its an authentic double etched bayo, but who knows?

    Cheers,

    Kai

                    Ja, poor pic´s ...

                    Which "Jäger-Regiment 99" ?
                    (Gebirgs-Jäger Regiment ?).

I´m not fit in etched Extra-Seitengewehren, but if someone offers me this bayo based on this pic´s, I would say: thank´s, but ...

Also the Stoßleder, (leather) ... ?

Please, let us see better pic´s, OK ?

Hi, I will try and get some better pictures done tomorrow, as I said before I am terrible at taking pictures of edged weapons but I will try my best! The scabbard is made from metal and the scabbard is painted black. The bayonet is in lovely condition. Has anyone else got any info on this Jager Regiment 99?

Hi, forgot to add! The blade washer is made from leather!

                          Hello:

If you have Wayne Techets book German Etched Dress bayonets you will find this etch on page 236. Wanye warns that the Jager-Regiment 99 double etch was often used on post war or reproduction bayonets. Look for broken template lines and incomplete motif borders.

Hi Richard, thanks for the info! I dont have the book that you talk about unfortunately, but I will check my bayonet tomorrow for these red flags that you have pointed out! The bayonet in my opinion is 100% pre-45. I just hope the etched panels turn out to be authentic?
