    2nd Luftwaffe Maker?

    Gentlemen,

Here is my second model Luftwaffe unmarked dagger. Can anyone tell who the maker is. I believe the blade looks quite a bit better than the pictures turned out, but i am still learning how to picture blades. Help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah

I should have mentioned that all dagger components are aluminum with the exception of the blade and the handle. Thank you in advance.

                        Jeremiah,
Nice silver finish on that one Not aluminum finish. Unmarked daggers were known to be private purchase or uniform store bought and with the addition of a silver plated scabbard and fittings it was an option that the store owners offered. No red flags here IMO looks good, the blade is in ok condition i've seen alot worse keep it original.
I used to spot the makers right off but it's been awhile and a little rusty but from what i remember looks like the pommel and crossguard are WKC, and also the scabbard if opening is oval shaped kinda too much flash there. I used to have one like this but with the Dark finish and Maker marked, kinda wish i still had it but sold it to Thelakesidetradder awhile back.

                          Wiendolch,

I am almost positive that this is aluminum. It is as light as a feather. Unfortunately, in my youth, i had a tendency to polish things. I can remember it being a flat sort of grey until i attacked it with aluminum polish. I too was thinking that it looked like a WKC. In your opinion, should i replace the ferule? For some reason it has lost it's silver finish. The blade is not pristine, but in person without the harsh flash, it looks much much better. I would like to thank you for your insight, and look forward to talking with you again.

Try touching the scabbard itself (not the bands) with a magnet. I would be very surprised to find that the entire dagger was aluminum.

                              Larry,

I had never hit it with a magnet because it felt so light that i was sure that it had to be aluminum. The scabbard itself weighs only a fraction of what my army dagger scabbard weighs. So, at your request, i hit everything with a magnet and discovered that the bands, rings, pommel, screws, and hilt are all non magnetic. Obviously, the blade is magnetic, and the scabbard does pull the magnet from the top to tip, but the magnetic force is very weak the enitire length of the scabbard. I am not sure what to make of this. Any ideas?

                              Thanks,

                              Jeremiah
