From what I see it looks like a salty, but original HJ knife. Although original, this knife has been messed with a little. Starting with the leather as you mentioned, also I am not sure about that diamond, could we see a close-up photo? The dark motto is a bit suspicious, but it could just be dirty. More photos would help.

For me the marking of the manufacturer is good, pictures are not rather good for the motto etc..
