    Red flags for hj knives?

Is the rzm mark with just the one circle (without the outer circle) a automatic red flag that a hj knife is a repro or fake? And does the rzm mark have to be on the ricasso to be original?
    Thanks

It needen't to have two circles. The marks can be found on the reverse blade obverse ricasso and sometimes -contra regulations- on the obverse ricasso like with the Arthur Evertz HJ knife for instance.

I tend to stay away from these since they are the most FAKED knife around.

Indeed John you have to be careful with these. They are however the most reasonably priced of all the 3rd Reich daggers and offer many variations to collect. Just buy from someone you trust and use the collective wisdom here on the forum. Learning about this stuff is a huge part of the fun! If you are looking for some pointers on red flags this might help:

You really can't go wrong with the advice from Paul @ Lakeside Trader.
However, one thing to remember is that a red flag is just that, it does NOT mean a knife is bad, it's just something that should encourage you to check the knife even more carefully.
For instance, just because the diamond doesn't wiggle doesn't mean it is a fake knife.
Be careful out there & enjoy your collecting.

              Re

So yall are saying that the single circle rzm mark and the rzm mark on the blade itself doesnt mean it is a automatic reproduction, originals were made like that
              thanks

John yes they can be single or double circle rzm mark & can be either on the blade or the ricasso & doesnt mean they are repos. also you can have the makers logo along with the rzm mark which are called transitional peices before they moved on to only rzm stamps later on.......regards scott.
