Maybe some of the guys who collect miniatures can chime in, but this one doesn't appear to exhibit the detail I would associate with a period example. Also, the only miniature SS I've seen was a model 33, does anyone know if model 36 examples are period proven examples?

These were made several years ago in both model 33 and 36 pattern and ran around 125.00.

While most of what we see as postwar fakes are full size, that does not mean that the “collector’s market” for miniatures has been neglected either. The only difference that I have noticed is that some are made a little better than than others, with the caveat that better quality does not necessarily confer legitimacy.

Where I have a problem with 'SS dagger miniatures' in general is this: Original period miniatures were usually made as salesman’s samples. The SS daggers were not for sale to the general public. So who would be a customer for a miniature SS dagger?? FP

I agree...this one is a recent reproduction (and not a very good one!)

Hello This is a SS miniature I pick up in the early 70s, when I first started collecting. I thought it was a fake at the time. When I pick up Whittmanns book Exploring the Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS, I was surprised to see this described as the only known SS miniature in Whittmanns opinion. The blade is very nice but the eagle is very ugly. Kirby
