Very nice looking knife! I stand to be corrected, but I believe the term 'honour knife' is incorrect. I understand these were early, un-official HJ knives which preceeded the more standardised version.

I have to agree with Russell, I believe the term "honor dagger" or "honor bayonet" was a term applied to these edged weapons by some dealers years back in an attempt to puff up interest in an otherwise obscure item. The same may be said of the PSS police bayonet that had some attributing them to the Schutzstaffel because the correct term for the bayonet had SS in it.

I do not believe these pieces appear in period documentation as having a specific purpose. Their overall quality & shape harkens to the Weimar fighting knives that, in all likelihood were utilized by period manufacturers as precursors to the HJ knife before party standardization. Either way, a really nice looking knife.

The intriguing thing is the etched motto which normally has to do with the SS...have some others of these knives had this motto?

Yes, there are different versions including plain blade and also a Blut und Ehre etch. Also, some different designs on the pommel.
