SS etched bayonets are EXTREMELY rare! But I don't think this is a real one.I'd want to see much better pix before I'd put out my cash!

thanks for your reply rich .
the prise he asks is 150,- euro so that's low for such a bajo.so i also doubt orginality but....you never know for sure so i thought to show it here and wait for your reply's.and hope somebody can tell me it's good or bad.
i will ask the seller for better pics for the 3th.time .
                best regards,fernando

If it were real,2000 euros would be more like it!

these scans were the best he could make off it.
i hope these are good enough....
                    2000 euro that's a lot off money!
then hope fly's and it will turn to be a fake.
                    i hope it's a org.one!

Even for scans, the picture quality is poor! But I'll try my best to give you a honest opinion.
In the next to last pix,the etch is very similiar to the one in Techet's book on page 98.The AA would mean "Aufkarungs Abteilung"(Recon Unit)#3.I don't like the detail of the top track rollers on the first tank, the one in the book clearly shows three(I can only see two or two and a half in the sellers scan). The wheels on the second tank look even worse.I also don't like the looks of the top leaves in the oak leave spray at the tip of the blade.
The second scan is hard to tell, too much lifting or pitting to make out good details. But it is an Alcoso Company motif,as is the first etch.Only the closed wing eagle has been replaced with SS.Really hard to tell from these scans,I'd want to hold it in my hands!
But all these pictures of the blade have made me forget the most obvious thing about this bayonet!!
Go back to the beginning of the thread!Look at the pommel(the end of the grip).Where is the stud button and mortise key?And while not shown in any pix,I'll bet it doesn't have a rifle mortise slot! And I'd even bet that if we were given a good pix of the crossguard Quillion,it'd have a casting mark! These are three of the big Red Flags of a repro!!!!THIS BAYONET IS A FAKE IN MY OPINION!!!
And I'm probably wrong about the price of a real SS etched bayonet,$2000 would be dirt cheap!
150 euros for this one almost sounds right,if you want a fake to study!

                          hi rich,
thanks and your right it doesn't have a mortise slot or key.
and no i don't want any copy to study because i better spend my 150,-on a org. item.
                          thanks a lot
                          best regards,fernando
