What a real SG42 looks like

I was asked to post some pics of an original 3rd Reich produced SG42. Won't get into too many details, but you'll notice things in the pics...

It is believed that post war pieces used by Eastern block nations did not have the curved clip on the sheath. Instead, repro clips are straight. This is why you'll see many sheaths without a clip. Simply broken off to hide something. Original war produced sheaths are made of black bakelite. Not painted black.

Markings should not be any different in size or shape than what you see here. Notice the sloppy WaffenAmt stamping. The # is actually 519, but looks more like 510.

Not a great shot of the tool, but study the rivet locations, etc. I've never seen an original tool that wasn't black.

Like the bayonet itself, study the size, font, and shape of the marking on the tool.

Hopefully, you can make sense of this shot. Look how the tool fits into the handle on this original. Notice the recess.....

I guess that'll do it for now. I've encountered real tools mixed with fake bayonets, and vice versa, so be careful. And pricewise, these have been hovering in the 3.5-4k range for some time.

Could those repros in fact be

bayonets for the Sudanese variant AR10? I had one and it has a straight scabbard clip. The tool kit is a close copy as is the scabbard and the handle. They were made in the 1960's. Can't remember the blade markings, but seems there was a star stamped on it. They were made in Holland or Germany. Can't remember which.
