    Opinions needed on bayonet

Ihave seen a Third Reich bayonet which I would welcome opinions on. I am a novice with edged weapons and this has a maker's mark which I do not recognise. The blade is shiney as if new and I think it may be a reproduction.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

You have a very nice Emil Voos dress bayonet. These came in two blade lengths. You have the short bladed version for a NCO. The trade mark (snake around a tree stump is a little uncommon. Nice bayonet.

Thanks tlKissinger. Is it normal to have such a shiney pristine blade on a third reich bayonet and do you have any idea of its value?
              Thanks,
              Peter.

Blades in your condition, while somewhat uncommon, are by no means rare. Parade dress bayonets with plated blades hold up very well if stored properly.

                        Hmm

Now we are talking. That's a very nice short dress bayonet. I hope you get this one as everything is in order as it should be.

Thanks Jan, it was withdrawn from auction when it failed to make its reserve of £160.

Nice piece & I agree with all of the foregoing but I myself would let it pass for a reserve of £160, I'm sure you can find something similarly conditioned for less if you look around. Either that or email the seller to see if he's amenable to a reduction.
