    Bayonet Markings

    Hi,
a quick query. I saw this on ebay recently, the crossguard and frog stud both marked with a number. Are these reissued bayonets if so by whom. Why I ask is here in Sydney a shop is selling K98 Bayonets mismatched but they have matching numbers on the crossguard and frog stud same as photographed. The seller claims they are original untouched German WW2 bayonets.
    cheers Robert

IMHO it is a refurbishment done post WW2, possibly Czech or Yugoslav.

You don't normally see original German markings on the frog stud (which appears to be upside down !)

There are "Nxxx" markings - indicates Naval use but these normally appear on the scabbard itself not the stud.

If you want to see some Naval markings, have a look at this site.

      Hope this helps.
